The first step in the long process of putting the killer of Michael Jackson behind bars began on November 8th. Dr.Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, of which the maximum sentence is 4 years. Dr Conrad Murray, however, will most likely receive a shorter sentence, due to the fact that he has mostly a clean slate in terms of criminal offenses. The next step of the process, has already started. The defense team of Dr. Murray have began the process of appealing the ruling. This may take the case all the way to the U.S supreme court, though, it is highly unlikely. Next Murray will be held in prison until his sentencing on the 29th. He is currently under suicide watch. Michael Jackson Mom and Dad are both taking it upon themselves to file civil lawsuits, against AEG Entertainment and Murray respectively. Also books about the case are likely to be published about the case.
My opinion on the case is not exactly straightforward. Yes, Dr. Murray held a hand in Michael Jackson's death. He did not call 911 soon enough, and also he did supply the deadly drugs to Jackson. However, one has to wonder, is Jackson's death the doctors fault or someone else's. Is it's Joe Jackson's, Michael's father, fault, for stealing Michael Jackson's childhood from him, resulting in the depression that led to the need for medication. Is it society's fault, for slowly breaking Jackson down through constant attacks , always contributing an insult to the man whenever one was needed. More likely, it was Jackson's fault. Michael Jackson is a grown man. He should accept the fault for all of his mistakes. He brought upon a lot of the criticism from society, and also he would not be as successful as he is if not for his father. He asked for the medicine, all Dr.Murray did was provide the doses. In my opinion, the man that was ruled guilty today is not the killer. To identify the killer, all Michael needs to do, is look at the man in the mirror. Rest In Peace Michael, we miss you.
